All students in the Clovis Municipal School district will have access to free breakfast during the 2013-2014 school year under a pilot program sponsored by CMS and its Student Nutrition department.
Regardless of whether a student has full, reduced or free meal status, breakfast will be provided at no cost. Students will be asked to enter their meal pin number when they receive their breakfast, however this is strictly for accounting purposes and no charges will be placed on their accounts.
Recognizing the importance of breakfast and striving to increase the health and productivity of students by ensuring they start each day with a nutritious meal, the 2013-2014 school year will serve as a trial period for the program.
Approved by the CMS Board of Education July 23, 2013, the pilot program is intended to exclusively serve the students of Clovis schools. Teachers and adults will still be required to pay for breakfast at a price of $1.60 per meal.
